At October 2021's VIVA Conference in Las Vegas. Dr. Akhilesh K. Sista shared Thrombolex's Prospective Multicenter Trial of Pharmacomechanical Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis with the BASHIR™ Endovascular Catheter for Intermediate-Risk Acute Pulmonary Embolism - Interim Analysis of The RESCUE Study.

Watch the above powerpoint to discover more about the "Late-Breaking Clinical Trial Session" presentation.

“These interim results from the RESCUE trial are very exciting” said Dr. Sista. “The most notable finding is the Core Lab assessed reduction in pulmonary thrombus burden at 48 hours, which may translate to better short and long-term outcomes pending further research."

Dr. Sista is a leader on Thrombolex's Scientific Advisory Board, and is a board-certified radiologist specializing in Interventional Radiology. He is Section Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at NYU-Langone School of Medicine. Dr. Sista is an Associate Professor and attending Physician at Weill Cornell Medical College in Interventional Radiology, and his clinical expertise lies in the medical and endovascular treatment of venous thromboembolic disease (VTE).

He has given 40 invited talks at international meetings on VTE, has served on several national committees and has authored or co-authored 35 peer-reviewed publications, including VTE clinical practice standards in the medical and radiologic literature.

Dr. Sista serves on venous thromboembolism guidance committees for the Society of Interventional Radiology and Anticoagulation Forum. He has been a frequently invited speaker and moderator on these topics at international meetings.

Dr. Sista is a graduate of Stanford University, earning his B.S. in Chemistry in 1999. He earned his M.D. degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland in 2004 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society upon graduation.
